The beauty of coming along on a trip with Quality Nishikigoi is that we use no agents at all, we do not need any guides either, we deal with every aspect from negotiating with the breeder to quarantining your Koi before they get delivered to your pond.
Dealing with no agents or interpreters means we can keep our costs down which benefits all our clients because they do not need to pay extra costs to agents or guides, and they all charge even if the small print doesn’t say so.

We have no buying restrictions either, you can buy as many Koi as you like or you can buy nothing at all and just enjoy the trip. Japan has the very best Koi on the planet but the very best fish must be searched for, it is not as easy as one may think. Quality Nishikigoi are not restricted to certain breeders, we will go all over Niigata to find the very best Koi for your budget, we will find that special Koi.

We can arrange the hotels while you stay in Japan, it isn’t much but we can get some discount on the hotels. We will arrange transport for the days ‘Koi hunting’ and feel free to either come with us for meals on the evenings or feel free to explore what Nagaoka has to offer and experience the local Japanese life.

Quality Nishikigoi will be in Japan for a certain period and will sometimes have to arrange to meet clients at the Train Station in Nagaoka. Getting around in Japan via the train network is very easy, please don’t let the stories of Tokyo station worry you, it’s actually very easy and the information desks are plentiful. If clients are still worried then it is possible for you to be met in Tokyo but theres no fun in that.

Flights are also best to be booked by yourselves, booking early is always advisable too, you can get great deals, and as with the train network, getting through the airport is also easy.
Clients from Europe will arrive at the Hotel sometime in the early afternoon, we can go straight to see Koi or you can recover from the trip.

Due to our links and relationships with the breeders of Niigata, we can sometimes arrange really special days such as harvesting with the breeders and some un-miss able teaching sessions and learning with the breeders which can be worth the entire trip anyway!

Quality Nishikigoi do charge a commission for our services and we are upfront about this service so there can be no confusion when you are in Japan, you are free to ask prices (if you can) or be with us for the full negotiating with the breeder, we will always try and get you the best price. We will not disappear into an office to try and ‘work out’ your price, they will be straight from the Breeders. You can even pay the breeders yourself, or arrange to transfer monies directly to them.

For clients who cannot make the trip to Japan, Quality Nishikigoi can still find that special Koi for you. We can send high quality pictures and HD film of fish directly to your computer. We will still charge the purchase price plus our commission; a ‘landed’ price will always be quoted which will be given to the client upon request. We can find any variety of Koi and almost any size of Koi in Japan and we hope to be able to suit your budget.

Many Koi in Japan cannot be brought back for sale in the UK because the cost price it high, so a Koi dealer could not bring it back and add their profit and sell the Koi, they would be too expensive for re-sale. However the base price for a hobbyist in Japan can be affordable, the difference being you are buying direct from the breeder, not a dealer back home, so the fish is the best quality but for a lot less than you would pay at your local dealer. You can even pay the breeder direct getting a full receipt; we will then make sure that Koi arrives in the best possible condition to your door. It’s a great service to be able to use.
